Infina Connect Announces New CEO, Mark Hefner

CARY, N.C. – October 1, 2013 – Infina Connect, a pioneer in the development of cloud-based healthcare solutions, is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Hefner as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Mark Hefner comes to Infina from Allscripts where he served as Segment Vice President, leading their Health Systems Group and related professional services business. He brings 30 years of experience in the technology industry, including executive leadership positions in general management, marketing, product management, operations and business development. He previously led healthcare IT businesses for GE Healthcare and Hill-Rom IT Solutions.

Hefner is charged with shaping the company’s strategic vision, establishing a top-notch sales and marketing infrastructure and accelerating growth. Hefner will also serve as primary liaison to Infina’s indirect sales channels to capitalize on an unprecedented influx of qualified leads which have resulted from the demonstrated success of Infina’s drug utilization management and care utilization management solutions.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Mark to our organization,” said Infina’s Founder and Chairman, Siu Tong, Ph.D. “We’ve produced exceptional results for our customers. This has placed us in prime position for future success, and Mark’s impressive depth and breadth of experience will, no doubt, be central in our continued growth.”

With the overarching goal of reducing healthcare costs while improving quality of care, Infina’s achievements have provided an invaluable glimpse of its potential. Its inaugural customer for drug utilization management, a state Medicaid program, was able to reduce drug use in the targeted patient category by 10-15%. This translates to substantial annual savings on drug costs for the customer and improved compliance to clinical best practices resulting in fewer patients affected by long-term side effects. In addition, Infina’s care utilization management solution has helped Key Physicians, a 225-physician group, to form a commercial ACO and achieve a 5.5% better-than-market total medical cost for their patient population.

Based on these demonstrated successes, Infina expects organizations across the nation will recognize the potential to significantly improve the cost and quality of care. In his new role, Hefner will be leading the conversation, representing Infina in discussions with government and industry executives, including members of Congress, state Governors and industry leaders.

“I am delighted to be joining Infina during such an exciting and transformative phase,” said Mark Hefner. “Infina’s innovative solutions are not only improving bottom lines, but also bettering people’s lives, and I have a passion to be a part of its mission on both a personal and professional level.”
